A History of Portraiture, Part Deux

I had a great conversations with my friend, the painter Jeff Hein, on his show The Undraped Artist Podcast. We discussed the history of portraiture from Raphael to JoaquĆ­n Sorolla. It is an ambitious and impossible task to summarize the technical, material, and stylistic changes that took place among major European artists during a four-hundred-year period. So, please realize this is more of a conversation between to curious friends than a scholarly exercise. (Maybe one day I will actually try to tackle it as a scholar.) Anyways, enough excuses.
